What to expect

Who are you?

We are a team of Chartered Physiotherapists and Sports Massage Therapists all with one goal: for you to feel, move and live better.

Our Physios have extensive skills and training at pre and post-graduate level. We are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, and The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Combined with our vast experience in getting people like you, free from pain and injury and back to enjoying life, you’re in safe hands!

Our Sports Massage Therapists provide treatment for people who are either recovering from injury after a course of physiotherapy, or who know that their lifestyle places tough demands on their bodies and want to stay fit and injury-free. They are qualified and registered with their professional bodies and are trained and experienced at understanding exactly what your body needs. You can find out more about our team here.

What do you treat?

We treat a range of conditions including pain and injury which may result from an injury or may have started for no obvious reason, it may be new, have come on suddenly, have been creeping in for a while, or been there for years! We also specialise in Vestibular Rehabilitation (Balance & Dizziness problems) and Headaches & Migraines.

We offer Sports Massage which helps prevent injury if you have a busy life, that puts your body under a lot of strain – either through sports, family life, a very physical job - or a sedentary one. It can also help recovery after a course of physiotherapy, to continue to improve the condition of your muscles and soft tissues and prevent reoccurrences.

Will you be able to help me?

We often help people who have tried other treatments and options without success or have multiple or complex issues. Our clinicians are expert problem solvers and will always work with you to get the best outcomes. We work successfully with clients with long-standing conditions who have become resigned to just 'live with it’. Although some conditions can’t be fully resolved, we can give you the tools to manage pain and stay active.

If you’re unsure whether we’re the right place for you, we offer a Free Consultation: this is an opportunity to discuss your condition and get to know our clinicians, who will listen to your symptoms and advise you on whether we are able to help. And whether we can or not, you will come away with a plan of action, whether that’s to an initial assessment with us, or a referral elsewhere if required: Book yours today.

If you’re unsure, please get in touch and we will advise you on the best course of action.

How many sessions will I need?

During your initial consultation, your therapist will work out a treatment plan with a recommendation of how many sessions you will need to achieve your goals – be that getting back to golf or playing with the grandkids! We discuss this with you, so you know what to expect and when, and a planned discharge date. We aim to get results as quickly as possible, but ensure lasting results too – quick fixes often lead to reoccurrences because underlying issues, such as posture or muscle imbalance, haven’t been addressed.

What does Physiotherapy treatment involve?

We use many different treatment techniques and during your initial assessment your therapist will advise on the best treatments for you and explain why we are using them and how they work. We believe in hands-on treatment and will always use this where suitable, combined with other techniques including acupuncture and dry needling, ultrasound, electrotherapy, kinesiology taping and rehab exercises. Your treatment plan is a progressive course and we will adapt the treatments we use according to your stage of rehab and what works best for you.

Where are you?

We are on Stretton Court in Great Glen, neighbouring the Pharmacy & Post Office. To find us on Google click here, or use what.3.words: comforted.giants.chugging

Whether you have an appointment with us or just want to pop in for some information, we would love to see you.

Address: 12 Stretton Court, Great Glen, Leicestershire LE8 8UN

What happens during an initial appointment?

We will talk through your condition in detail to get a really clear picture of what’s happening, how it’s affecting you and what you want to get out of treatment. We will then do a physical assessment, where we look at, feel and move the affected area and do any specialists tests that are needed. Once we have done this, we can work out a diagnosis, talk you through it, and make a start on treatment straight away.

What happens during a follow up appointment?

Here we will check-in on your symptoms, continue treatment – either the same as previously or different as required, and progress your exercises.

What happens at a reassessment?

We will review your symptoms in detail and re-check the physical assessment markers to compare where you are compared to your first appointment. We want to ensure you have progressed and achieved the goals we set, so you can get back to doing all the things you love.

What happens at a Sports Massage appointment?

At your first appointment we allow time to discuss any previous issues you have had and what you are hoping to get out of treatment. We then get started with treatment straight away.

Do you have parking?

We have a client car park at the rear, please use Google or what.3.words: boxing.pupils.pushes

Follow the 'private road' adjacent to our building, turn left into the private car park. Please park courteously in the area signed 'Byron Health Customer Parking'. If there isn’t space available, there are also parking spaces in the layby directly outside, or in the village car park off Main Street, adjacent to the library.

How long are appointments?

We allow up to an hour for Initial Appointments and up to half an hour for Follow-Ups. This doesn’t necessarily mean it will take the full time, but means we aren’t rushed and can take the time we need to get the best results possible.

How much does it cost?

Physiotherapy Initial Appointments are £68 and Follow-Up Appointments are £62.

Sports Massage is £68 for 60 minutes or £39 for 30 minutes.

Payments are made in advance, by card, either in the clinic, over the phone or via secure web link. If your treatment is being paid for by an employer or insurer, we request confirmation of your level of cover and payment arrangements prior to attending.

Can I get treatment through my health insurance?

We are registered with WPA and AXA and can claim costs back directly from them on your behalf. We simply need your policy number and confirmation that they will cover treatment. Because we are HCPC registered some insurance companies will allow you to claim back costs, so it is often worth checking with your provider if they will accept our payment receipts and reimburse you.

Do I need a referral?

No! You do not need a referral to see us, but we do accept referrals from other healthcare providers if you have been given one. To get booked in you just simply need to give us a call or use our online booking system which you can find here

What should I bring or wear?

It’s helpful if you can wear loose fitting clothing, a vest top, shorts or anything that makes accessing the affected area easier. Your therapist may ask you to remove an item of clothing to assess for any changes in colour, swelling, or musculature, or to do hands-on treatment.

If you have any letters or reports from other healthcare professionals, please bring them. It helps us to know what other opinions you have received in the past.

If it is a free consultation or an initial assessment, we also recommend you bring your diary, as you will likely need to book further appointments at this stage.

Does treatment hurt?

Treatment shouldn’t be painful; however, it can occasionally be slightly uncomfortable. This pain shouldn’t persist and will usually decrease session by session. Not all physio treatments are uncomfortable, especially if you are already in a lot of pain!

Will you treat me during my first appointment?

Yes! So long as time allows (which it does in 99% of cases). Our reasoning for an hour-long assessment is so we can get the ball rolling with treatment as soon as possible, to get you back to your normal self as quickly as we can.
